About Us

Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal faster and cope better. The Ronald McDonald House of Akron allows parents to be close by their sick child, surrounded by a warm, peaceful and comforting atmosphere that strengthens them during trying times.

About Us

Through the generous gifts from our community and friends like you, the Ronald McDonald House of Akron has provided a unique and supportive home-like environment for children and families in need since January 1985. Every night we provide 20 families with a private room and bathroom, community living areas, large kitchen area and use of our fully stocked pantry. Each evening we provide a complete dinner for all our families. Our services are provided with the minimal request of a $10 per night donation however, no one is turned away due to the inability to pay. We are privately funded and supported by a generous community.

The Impact of a Community

It is through the hard work of our volunteers and the kindness of donations that the Ronald McDonald House of Akron has been able to serve families since 1985. Our House is supported by over 100 individual volunteers, donors, local community groups and local restaurants supporting our meal program. Check out some of our most current community supporters through the "Spirit of Community" and "Nightly Meal Program" sections. Help us by supporting these local businesses and tell them you read about them here.
