The Ronald McDonald House of Akron has been serving the Akron community for over 30 years since opening its doors in January of 1985. Our mission is to provide a temporary house for those who have loved ones at Akron Children’s Hospital.
The need for our services has continued to expand with the exponential growth of Akron Children’s Hospital. As it has grown into the largest pediatric health care provider in Northeast Ohio, more and more families need our services. Our 20-bedroom house is full with a wait list throughout the year. In 2014 alone we served 12,800 individuals with 55 families staying longer than one month. Yet, the hardest part of our year was not being able to accommodate over 5,700 families. Saying ‘NO’ to a family during their time of great anxiety and uncertainty is never easy. Our services are provided with the minimal request of a $10 per night donation however, no one is turned away because of an inability to pay. (Our actual cost to operate a room is $80 per night). Last year only 31% of our families were able to contribute to their room donation.
Based on these consistent statistics, we are excited to announce that we are implementing plans for a future expansion that will allow us to help comfort and give hope to more families each night. In the meantime, the continuous demand and use of our house has increased our maintenance and upkeep costs.
Would you consider a gift to provide Room Sponsorship through an annual donation of $5000 per year? Your generosity to this program directly affects the lives of the families who call our House “home” while their child receives medical treatment at Akron Children’s Hospital. Room Sponsorship at our House is a win-win partnership. It genuinely assists families in need while providing marketing benefits for donors.
The Ronald McDonald House of Akron allows parents to be close by their sick child, surrounded by a warm, peaceful and comforting atmosphere that strengthens them during trying times. Please contact Aristea Tzouloufis at 330-253-5400 or email@example.com to discuss this opportunity further.
